I am an academic at Loughborough University and I created the Action Programme for Responsible Sourcing (APRES). There are over 350 organisations in our network now – and they are all interested in supply chains for building construction products and materials. Specifically, APRES helps people understand the environmental and social issues that are connected with manufacture and supply – we produce publications and hold events. Our slogan is: “Do you know where your materials come from?” – the idea is that, just like fashion and food, we need to think about where our stuff comes from and we should care that it was made in a safe, environmentally friendly place.
